Piyush Manush, 47 yo, is a man - alone - who is clashing with international companies and governement to protect a very vulnurable environemnt in the south of India. The battle ground is made of forest, lands and courtrooms of Salem - Tamil Nadu. Since he was 20 yo he tied himself to trees, he arranged a citinzen forum to clean a dramatically polluted lake, he collected money to buy a whole hill so he could plant new trees and prevent the soil to get dry. These are just some of the actions he carried-out (almost) alone, with very few supporters beyond him. He spends his days on the field planting trees, and in front of the judge to defend himself. He's been arrested several times and brutally beaten by police officers while in jail, while his wife, Monika, succeded in a constant on-line social operation which led to his release. He his now "famous" in the south of India because of the energy he puts trying to be the change, and because of the strong values he believes in.
