FOUNDRY WORKERS POURING MOLTEN METAL INTO AN INGOT
Ingot making. Two foundry workers pouring molten metal from a furnace into an ingot mould. The metal, titanium, is added to alloys for medical implants and aircraft as it is strong, light and unreactive. The metal is moulded into ingots for ease of transport. The foundry workers' clothing is designed to protect them from the heat. Their aprons, arms and visors are silvered because this colour is especially good at reflecting heat.
