FORENSIC HAIR EVIDENCE, SEM
Forensic hair evidence, scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Close-up of the structure of the shaft of a hair found at a crime scene. Hairs found at a crime scene are analysed in a laboratory to determine whether they are human or animal, and whether they came from the victim, the suspect, or are unrelated to the case. The location of the hairs can also help determine whether the suspect came into contact with the victim. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/PATRICK LANDMANN/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY)
