Fagagna (Udine), Italy, July 11, 2023. The German writer, poet and translator Esther Kinsky portrayed at home in Fagagna, a village in Friuli, a region to which she is particularly attached and which inspired her to write "Rombo" (Iperborea, 2023), a novel that recalls, through seven inhabitants of a valley in the extreme north-east of the region, the days of the violent earthquake that hit Friuli on May 6, 1976. "Rombo" is the winner of the Kleist Prize, candidate for the Deutscher Buchpreis and the European Strega Prize 2023..Esther Kinsky is one of the highest and most original voices on the German literary scene, awarded the most prestigious awards, such as the Leipzig Fair Prize, the Paul Celan Prize, the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize.
