ISRAEL JERUSALEM PASSAH
epa01315132 A worker sweeps up some of the tens of thousands of hand written notes, or prayers, that visitors left behind, stuffed into the cracks and crevices of the Western Wall in Jerusalem, Judaism's holiest site, as the wall is cleaned on 15 April 2008, pior to the start of the week-long Jewish high holiday of Passover. Passover commemorates the Israelites exodus from Egypt and is a time when Jews clean their homes and remove all traces of leavening. The Western Wall is cleared of its prayers twice a year as the notes are gathered in plastic trash bags and taken to the nearby Mount of Olives where the notes are buried in the jewish cemetery with a Rabbi reciting prayers.
