Second World War | VI Tiger - the most successful German battle tank
The Panzerkampfwagen VI, also called "Tiger", was a heavy German tank produced by the sole manufacturer Henschel in Kassel from 1942 to 1944 and used by the Wehrmacht from late summer 1942. Due to its powerful main armament, high armour protection and speed, the Tiger was one of the most powerful tanks of the Second World War and enabled the rapid advance of the German Wehmacht. The Tiger armoured division under Erwin Rommel is best known by its nickname, the "Ghost Division". With its mobility, penetrating power and unpredictability, it had a decisive influence on the course of the war. (luk)
