Oscar Plattner (1922-2002)
The Swiss cyclist Oscar Plattner, born on 17 May 1922 and died on 21 August 2002, celebrated his greatest successes on the track: in 1946 in the amateurs and in 1952 in the professionals, he was twice sprint world champion. Between 1953 and 1961, he won eight six-day races and set four track world records over 200 and 500 m during his career, which lasted until 1965. At national level, he won 21 Swiss championship titles. After his active career in 1966, he became national coach of the amateurs. (ar)
