Peter Zumthor (*1943)
Peter Zumthor is an internationally renowned Swiss architect and former monument conservator at the monument office of his canton of Graubünden in Chur. He was awarded the Pritzker Prize for his life's work in 2009. On Thursday, 26 April 2018 he will be 75 years old. Peter Zumthor's buildings are characterised by their simple functionality and their careful relationship to their surroundings. He also attaches great importance to the choice of materials and the atmospheric quality of the rooms. His most famous buildings include the Kunstmuseum Bregenz in Austria, the Kolumba Köln (Art Museum of the Archbishopric of Cologne), the pavilion in the garden of the Serpentine Gallery in London and the Klangkörper, his Swiss pavilion at the Expo 2000 in Hanover.
