China spy balloon
It is becoming increasingly clear what the Chinese spy balloon was capable of. It carried several antennas and was probably able to intercept and localize communications on the ground, according to the US State Department. High-resolution images of the balloon were taken by reconnaissance aircraft. The balloon first entered U.S. airspace over Alaska on January 28 and flew across the United States. On Saturday, Feb. 5, 2023, a U.S. fighter jet shot down the balloon. Currently, experts from the Federal Bureau of Investigation are examining what remains of it that could be fished out of the sea so far. They say it was clearly a military spy balloon. (laae)
