Judy Garland (1922-1969)
Judy Garland (10 June 1922 - 22 June 1969) was an American film actress and singer. She became famous for her leading role in the movie classic Der Zauberer von Oz (1939), in which she sings the original version of the song Over the Rainbow. In the course of her career she was awarded with important prizes like the Grammy, the Golden Globe, the Tony Award and an honorary oscar. In contrast to her successful career, her private life was fraught with problems. She died at the age of 47 from an overdose of a sleeping pill. (wp)
