Hitler Assassination - "Operation Valkyrie" (1944)
The assassination attempt of 20 July 1944 under the name "Valkyrie Company" is considered to be the most significant attempt to overthrow the military resistance during the National Socialist era. However, the explosive charge deposited and armed by Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg during a meeting at the Wolfsschanze Führer's headquarters injured the dictator only slightly. (wp)
