Jack Lemmon was born on February 8, 1925, in Newton, USA, and died on June 27, 2001, in Los Angeles. He was one of the most influential American character actors of the 20th century and won two Oscars - for Best Supporting Actor in Mister Roberts (1955) and for Best Actor in Save the Tiger (1973). He is also remembered for his collaborations with Billy Wilder, including Some Like It Hot (1959) and The Apartment (1960). (luk)
