Switzerland Production of hail rockets (1940)
In order to prevent damage caused by hail, hailstones artificially introduced into the cloud by crystallisation nuclei can split during cloud inoculation. As a result, the hailstones are smaller on impact and cause less damage. Swiss farmers have been experimenting with silver iodide rockets for hail control for decades - until today, although studies have not found any significant effect of hail defence by rocket bombardment. Here is a summer series on the production of hail rockets in Switzerland from the 1940s. (luk)
