Olivia Heussler *1957 born in Zurich into a family of artists, trained as an MPA specialising in tropical medicine and travelled through North and Central America in 1978 where she bought her first SLR camera. She worked as a freelance self-taught photographer for Keystone Press and various media houses in the early 80s. She produced her first publications and exhibitions. From 1984-2003 she worked for APIA in Managua and Impact-Visuals in New York. She attended the ZHDK and in the early 90s she founded Lookat-Photos in Zurich with other photographers. Numerous photo exhibitions and book publications on Palestine, Nicaragua and on the Zurich riots in 1980 followed. While working as a freelance and single photographer, she continues to live in Switzerland and her images are published and shown worldwide in magazines, newspapers, books and exhibitions. (ohe)
